The Samson Group was founded by Mr. Suresh A. Samant & Mr. Mohan B. Samant, two well-qualified and experienced first generation entrepreneurs, when Underwater Services Company was formed in 1970 as the first diving company in India. In the 1980s three companies were formed, namely, Underwater Services Co. Pvt. Ltd, Goa Towage & Salvage Co. Pvt. Ltd and Aditi Shipping Pvt. Ltd., in order to acquire offshore support vessels and ocean-going tugs. After being in the business of ship owning and onshore / offshore operations & support for over two decades, it was but a logical step for the company to consolidate operations. In order to do this and provide a strong base to the ship owning activities of the existing companies, in 1994 Samson Maritime Ltd was formed as a flagship company by amalgamating the existing group companies.
Underwater services company was originally a partnership firm formed in 1970 as the first commercial diving company in india.
Initially, the company provided hull cleaning, hull inspection plus underwater repairs to merchant shipping vessels. later the company expanded into spm maintenance, offshore diving including saturation and mixed gas, plus salvage and wreck removal, becoming the first indian member of the international salvage union.
A limited company with the same name was formed in august 2008 by converting the partnership firm. uscl is a pioneer in the fields of salvage & commercial diving in india. the company has a vast pool of experienced manpower, owns a comprehensive range of air-diving equipment as also flat top barges which can be used for diving projects and salvage jobs, and is the leading compnay in the spm o&m business on the indian coast.
The Samson Group today is a professionally managed entity with operations spanning the Indian coast and recently entered the Middle East with a prestigious contract.
